about the SDC
The Society of Dyers and Colourists is the only international professional society specialising in colour in all its manifestations. It was founded in 1884, and was granted a Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1963. The SDC is a registered charity and its aims and objectives are 'to advance the science of colour' in the broadest sense. Its headquarters are based in Bradford, UK.
The work of the Society can be summarised under four principal headings. Further information can be found on the SDC corporate website following the links below
Colour: Design & Creativity aims to become the premier forum for the publication of reports of research-based and practice-based work in colour- and design-related fields. Its philosophy is to act as a multidisciplinary journal addressing all aspects of colour and design, featuring articles that systematically describe evidence-based applications of colour in design, art, architecture, fashion, etc. Articles reporting basic, applied, and theoretical research related to colour will also be included.
