Biographical Notes
Stephen Westland holds the Chair in Colour Science and Technology and is Head of the School of Design at the University of Leeds. Prior to his appointment at Leeds in 2003 he held academic posts at the universities of Keele (1990–1999) and Derby (1999–2003) following a four-year spell in industry with Courtaulds Research. He has published over 100 refereed articles about colour and several book chapters and books. His research interests span all facets of colour from colour vision and colour measurement to colour imaging, colour harmony and colour in art and design.
He has been actively involved with the Society of Dyers and Colourists for more than 20 years and is currently a member of the Colour Measurement Committee (CMC), the international editorial board of Coloration Technology, and is a member of the SDC Council.
